I Heart Aldi

This weekend, I had to do some serious catching up on grocery shopping. We had very little in the house -- especially very little that was quick or easy. And right now, quick and easy is the name of the game, at least until my Mom is fully recovered. We'd been hitting a lot of takeout and fast food, so I was bound and determined to stop that. So, I did a big "deal" shopping at Publix, and then hit Aldi for more convenience and lower prices on some basics. In the process I blew through 42% of February's grocery budget, but I think we will be in okay shape all in all. So, here is what I picked up at Aldi:

3 Boxes Dog Treats
1 12 Pack Ramen Noodles
1 Frozen Cheese Ravioli
1 1lb box Angel Hair Pasta
1 Pasta Salad Kit
2 Pasta & Sauce Entrees
1 Wheat Thins
1 Chicken Broth
2 Coffee Creamers
2 Tomato Soup
2 Toasted Ravioli
1 Can "Grands" Style Biscuits
1 Crescent Rolls
1 Alfredo Sauce
1 Pumpkin Cream Cheese
Bananas
1 Tortilla Chips
Milk
1Shredded Mozzarella
1 Mini Bagels
2 Avocados
1 Oat Bran Bread

Spent $49.27

  1. Hmm, that all sounds really good. I agree, simple and quick is the name of the game these days. The less ingredients, the better! I blew off my bi-weekly grocery (and misc) budget the day after payday, hahaha. I guess I was running on empty. This second half of the month will hopefully be easier.

  2. Do you have time to carve out four hours to do a bulk cooking day, & freeze a bunch of stuff? That way you could just grab something to defrost as you head out the door?

Hopefully things will stabilize & get easier in the weeks to come.

  3. Isn't it amazing that you could get all those groceries for $42? I'm liking Aldi too!
