Saturday Shopping at Aldi

My cupboards were getting bare on basics so a quick run to Aldi today was definitely in order. I love shopping there because although I simply ADORE the Publix sale prices, often times their full prices are a bit heavy on the wallet. Another plus with Aldi is that since it is so small in terms of square footage, I can get in and out of there in a pretty short amount of time.

So, here is what I picked up:

2 Boxes Dog Treats
Apples
Pears
2 Shells & Cheese
1 Pumpkin Quick Bread Mix
1 Frozen Pizza
2 Boxes Toasted Ravioli
1 Bag Frozen French Fries
4 Bags Shredded Cheese
1 Refrigerated Pie Crust (have a new Pampered Chef recipe I want to try out!)
Flour Tortillas
Swiss Cake Rolls (did I mention I was hungry when I went)
Nutty Buddy Snacks (ditto)
Light Sour Cream
Potatoes
Avocado
Eggs
Bread

Total Spent: $46.96 --- Saved??????

  1. You do great at Aldi's. I just haven't been able to get into them.

I think for me, one of the big things is that Price Chopper is the next block down, and for ever $50 spent, you get $0.10 off of gas. And the way the gas prices have been....it has been a big help.

Maybe I need to try again.

  2. It helps that Aldi is just across the street from my regular Publix and both are only roughly a mile from my house. I shop at both places. I've been really very happy with all of the Aldi branded things I've tried as far as quality goes.

I tend to get my gas at Sam's Club mainly because its about .15-.20/gallon cheaper than any other gas station nearby. And it is still very close to home.

  3. It's funny to see what different people consider "basic". The following, to me, are either just junk foods or things that can easily be made at home for a fraction of the cost:
    2 Shells & Cheese
    1 Pumpkin Quick Bread Mix
    1 Frozen Pizza
    2 Boxes Toasted Ravioli
    1 Bag Frozen French Fries
    4 Bags Shredded Cheese
1 Refrigerated Pie Crust (have a new Pampered Chef recipe I want to try out!)
    Flour Tortillas
Swiss Cake Rolls (did I mention I was hungry when I went)
    Nutty Buddy Snacks (ditto)

I do love Aldi, though. :)

  4. The basics were actually the bread, fruit, veggies, cheese, tortillas and dog treats.

However, with a mob of teeangers constantly in and out of the house, convenience foods are often basics too. Working a full time job and a second side gig, as a single parent I would never leave the kitchen at home if I made everything from scratch.

  5. I too love Aldi because of the low prices on many items, but the prices surely have been increasing lately.

Thank you for linking up at the Aldi Savings Linky at the Aldi Spot.

  6. The prices are definitely going up. Its becoming a lot more difficult to keep the grocery costs low. I've noticed that especially with dairy products. The sticker shock is a bit painful at times!
