Valentines, Schmalentines

Being single for QUITE a long time makes me just kind of go "ugh" when it comes to Valentine's Day. Normally, the single thing doesn't bother me a bit. But after a solid month of Jewelry Store ad assaults,  by the time V day hits...well, I'm pretty over it.

I had more fun with it when Princess Penelope was younger... making all those valentines for school (or picking out just the right Powerpuff Girls cards), attaching Charms Blow Pops, making goodies for the class party. That was kind of fun...now that Penelope is older, well, there are no more marathon glittter and Charms Blow Pop sessions. Sigh.

So, basically other than picking up Penelope some sort of Valentine and new rawhide chews for Thing 1 and Thing 2, I kind of try to ignore the day in general. Today, that was just not possible...

Everywhere I looked at work someone was wearing red or pink, someone else was taking flowers from their sweetie to their desk, even the breakroom got into the spirit with pink tablecloths and heart shaped balloons. Ignoring it just didn't seem possible. Not to mention someone decided to really fight dirty and put heaping plates of sugar cookies, cupcakes, conversation hearts and chocolate on the table. Despite my resolve to ignore the day, I succumbed..... and now I feel sick.

But hey, a day that centers around undgodly amounts of chocolate and sugar cookies with thick fluffy icing and sprinkles can't really be ALL bad.....right?
