I've been reading around about "No-Spend" Days. The idea is basically this: you set a goal for "x" number of days per month to not spend any money. And you do your best to meet or exceed that goal. I like this idea because if you have a goal in mind and work to stick to it, then you are more likely to plan your errands and use your money thoughtfully instead of just dropping money here and there. I don't know how well I'll do at this because this month is definitely heavy on travel for me. I will be out of town for work at least 6 days, day trips for work another 2 days, Princess Penelope's birthday is this month and we have an overnight trip to Atlanta planned.
All that being said, I'm going to give it a shot. I'm making a goal of 10 no spend days for the month of July. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all spend days. Sigh. Yesterday, the 5th, was a total no-spend day. (Yea!) Today will be a spend day as I have a trip to Publix planned in addition to a trip to the phone store --- to finally get my jacked-up cell phone replaced. Thursday or Friday will more than likely be a spend day as I have to gas up the Princess's car for her to make her first solo trip to her Dad's and I don't want her to have to stop at an unfamiliar place for gas along the way (please say a prayer as I'm a bit freaked out about the prospect of her road tripping for 4 hours on her own). But I will try and combine other errands that I normally do on the weekend.
10 may be a bit lofty, but I'm going to try and do it! Have you ever tried No Spend Days? How'd it work out?
