Almost There!!!!!! - $1.85

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know that I've spent roughly the last week and half trying to stretch the remainder of my July grocery budget -- a slim $6.35 --- to the end of the month. I'm almost there! However, I made a quick trip into Publix when I got back into town. I was doing quick math in my head since I didn't have a calculator with me and when I got up to the check-out, I was pretty confident I could come in still under budget. (And no, for some reason it never occurred to me to use the calculator on my cell phone! duh!)

Anyway, this is what I got:

3 Bugles Snacks (bogo rainchecks)
2 Golden Grahams Breakfast Bars
1 Velveeta Shells & Cheese

Spent: $4.50
Saved: $13.12 -- or 75%!

And yes, I'm still under budget --- $1.85 to get through the weekend!!!!!!! I've SO got this!

  3. Ok, I am dumb. If you had BOGO coupons for the Bugles, then why didn't you get 4?

  4. Not a dumb question --- our publix doesn't do true bogo -- basically instead of having to get two of an item to get them at 50% each, they ring up at 50% so you only have to get one if that's all you need.

For instance, this week they have Emerald Nuts at BOGO. I need one canister for a recipe I'm making for the side gig. Instead of having to get two when I only need one (and spending $5.69, I'll buy one at 50% and only spend $2.80 and use it as a business expense -note: side gig purchases to NOT come out of my grocery budget as I pay them out of a separate debit account).

If I had another coupon for the Bugles, I would have bought 4, but I only had 3, and the bogo raincheck combined with coupons made them .25 a bag.
